CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Miranda Ganci, Science Educator

I successfully manage my classroom by clearly outlining and communicating classroom expectations with students and families. The students know that I am consistent and fair in grading and classroom behavior management. I use student and family meetings to discuss student behavior expectations. School wide practices include community circles. Common classroom activities include science labs, project based learning, and the use of the classroom maker space supplies. Students understand my expectations for collaboration and classroom clean up because we practice the classroom procedures until they are learned. I embrace the managed chaos that sometimes results from project based learning. Every time I implement a project I finetune building the boundary guidelines for the students. They always deliver impressive final products when they are given proper scaffolding and structure. My classroom was not built as a science classroom but we make it work with only two sinks! The desks in my classroom cannot be moved easily so the permanent student seating structure is in groups of four.
